Institutional finance, before university.
Praeclaria places a small number of secondary students inside a proprietary trading firm — a part of the financial world most never reach before university. Each works alongside its researchers to build an investment strategy of their own: real work, done where it is actually done, and theirs to carry forward.
Places are limited by supervisor availability and admitted by written application review.
Where the work is actually done.
Most pre-university finance programs teach students about markets from the outside. Praeclaria places them inside. A small number of students join a family office trading firm and work alongside its researchers to build an investment strategy of their own.
What they leave with is the experience itself — a place inside a working trading firm, an investment strategy they built and understand cold, and the professionals who reviewed it. Where earned, a letter records it.
One student. One supervisor. One investment idea.
The work is built around one investment idea. The student works under professional supervision to frame the opportunity, weigh the evidence, build the strategy, and present it the way the firm's own people would.
The student takes a place inside the firm, matched to its work in markets, data, strategy, or portfolio thinking.
Through the work, the student builds one investment idea into a strategy of their own — researched, tested, and revised alongside the people who do it for a living.
The finished strategy is presented to the firm and reviewed the way its own work is, with feedback and a reference where earned.
What the experience becomes.
A student finishes able to describe real work in plain terms: where they were, the strategy they built, how they reached it, and who reviewed it. Not a subject they studied — something they did.
Students leave with some or all of the following, depending on the level:
- A place inside a proprietary trading firm
- An investment strategy of their own, built and defended
- The research and evidence behind it
- Feedback from the firm's own researchers
- A professional reference where earned
| Placement | Best for | Duration | Core output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Foundations | Earlier-stage students seeking a credible first place inside a finance firm | 12 weeks | An introductory investment memo |
| Fellowship | Students needing a substantive pre-university finance centrepiece | 24 weeks | A full investment strategy proposal |
| Advanced Fellowship | Students seeking a deeper, more distinctive record | 36 weeks | A strategy, presented, and a position at an emerging-manager incubator |
For families who want the real thing.
Praeclaria is for families who want their child inside a part of the financial world most cannot reach — not observing it, but working in it: a place at a family office trading firm, and an investment strategy the student builds and makes their own.
Capacity is intentionally limited.
Praeclaria depends on supervisor availability inside the firm. Places are therefore limited, and admission is based on written application quality, maturity, and fit with available research tracks.
